Triumph in Pink: Tampa Bay Unites for Breast Cancer Awareness

The inaugural Susan G. Komen Tampa Bay MORE THAN PINK Walk marked an extraordinary start to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, showcasing the resilience and unity of the Tampa Bay community. As Event Chair and Emcee, I witnessed firsthand the incredible turnout and support, despite the event being sandwiched between two historic storms. Our collective efforts resulted in raising over $165,000 to support those impacted by breast cancer, a testament to the unwavering spirit of our community.

The event’s success was evident in the numbers: 1,630 registered participants, over 2,000 supporters on-site, 130 teams representing various organizations, and 55 area companies participating through team membership and partnerships. Most inspiring were the 154 survivors and participants living with metastatic breast cancer who walked alongside us, embodying strength and hope. As a top fundraiser, I’m deeply grateful for the generosity of donors and the dedication of the Event Leadership Committee and Komen staff. While we celebrate this achievement, we remain sensitive to ongoing hurricane relief efforts and continue to welcome contributions to support the fight against breast cancer.
