Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend and participate in the 2024 Association of African-American Financial Advisors V.I.S.I.O.N. Conference in the Washington DC area. The event was a powerful demonstration of progress in the financial industry, with a focus on representation, empowerment, and creating lasting change. As a speaker and moderator for sessions on Women in Finance and Increasing Representation on Boards, as well as hosting the Women in Finance lunch gathering, I witnessed firsthand the energy and commitment of professionals dedicated to transforming the landscape of finance.
The conference reinforced the critical importance of being present in these spaces as advisors, leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, board members, and decision-makers. It’s not just about representation; it’s about embodying the “see it, be it” principle in the industry and workplace, promoting financial education, and driving economic empowerment to create generational change within our communities. The connections made and strengthened during the event left me truly energized and inspired to continue pushing forward. Congratulations to CEO Sheena Gray, the Quad A team, and board of directors for organizing such a wonderful and impactful event. As we look to the future, it’s clear that the best is yet to come for all of us in this journey of transformation and empowerment.
