Dr. Renée Baker Advocates for the 2025 Susan G. Komen’s MORE THAN PINK Walk

Dr. Renée Baker was recently a featured guest on ABC’s The Morning Blend Tampa with hosts Natalie Taylor and Roxanne Wilder. In this heartfelt interview, Dr. Baker opened up about why breast cancer awareness is so important to her. She reminded viewers that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer and, for the first time, more women under 50 are being diagnosed than those over 50.

She also spotlighted the critical role Susan G. Komen plays in supporting patients and families right here in Tampa Bay. From patient navigators to vital research, Komen ensures that no one faces this disease alone. And with the MORE THAN PINK Walk coming up on October 18, Dr. Baker emphasized the power of community to raise awareness, fund research, and provide hope.

Her message was clear and urgent: breast cancer isn’t just a woman’s issue; it’s a community issue. When we know our risks, advocate for ourselves, and walk together, we save lives.

Susan G. Komen works every day to meet the needs of people facing breast cancer in our community. The organization’s MORE THAN PINK Walk is coming to the University of South Florida on Saturday, October 18. It will unite all of us as we support one another and raise critical money to find the cures for this disease.
