Dr. Baker Raises Money for Breast Cancer Research

Dr. Renée Baker continues her empowerment journey with fundraising for Susan G. Komen’s “More Than A Pink” Walk for breast cancer in Tampa. The former board member and former event chair is deeply committed to the fight against breast cancer, a disease that affects millions of women and men worldwide, including her mother-in-law, a resilient survivor, and a very dear friend, who left the world too soon.

Dr. Baker’s goal is to raise $5,000 for this cause as breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and, alarmingly, the mortality rate for Black women diagnosed is 42% higher than their white counterparts. Every dollar donated contributes to finding a cure and a comprehensive approach to tackling this ugly disease. Some of those approaches include early detection and educational programs that raise awareness of the importance of self-examinations and regular screenings. Survival rates increase exponentially the earlier it’s detected.

In addition to funding research and education, donations supporting patient care and advocacy efforts align with Dr. Baker’s push in equipping others with information and being intentional in making an impact with it. Susan G. Komen’s organization strives to influence policy and secure government funding to ensure continued breast cancer research and support services. The organization also provides grants to local communities for mammograms, tests and different treatment options despite financial limitations or being underinsured or uninsured.

Susan G. Komen organization is one of the most well-recognized and impactful breast cancer organizations, dedicated to funding research, education, screening, and treatment programs. By contributing to this cause, you are helping to advance critical research that seeks to improve the lives of those diagnosed with breast cancer and ultimately find a cure. Your donation can make a tangible difference, providing hope and resources to individuals and families affected by this devastating disease.

Because of her empowering nature, of course, Dr. Baker’s named her squad: #TeamRB: The Best is Yet to Come! as she reminds everyone that the walk is “not just in remembrance and support but in steadfast hope and determination for a future where breast cancer no longer steals our loved ones or threatens our community.”

Join Dr. Baker and this powerful community from all walks of life come together to honor survivors, support those currently fighting and those who lost their battle with breast cancer. This walk brings everyone together to loudly proclaim that no one has to face this journey alone.

All financial contributions and participation in the walk help to amplify all efforts in beating this disease – one dollar and one step at a time.
